Such evocative visual storytelling.

This is vaguely similar to an idea for a painting I've had in my head for a few years now, but haven't attempted because I don't think my skills are up to the task yet. And, funnily enough, I when I first got the idea I thought it would look good in your painterly style. :P

Thanks Sierra!  This is one, especially while fighting with the foreground figure, caused me to doubt my own skill as well.

You pulled it off beautifully, though!

I discovered a new word the other day, "saudade." It's a Portuguese word that means "a feeling, a longing for something or some event that one is fond of, which is gone, but might return in a distant future. It often carries a fatalist tone and a repressed knowledge that the object of longing might really never return." That's the emotion I wanted to convey in my painting, and the same feeling I get from this one.

Which software & brushes did you use in this piece?

Photoshop, with just a mix of various brushes.   The particular brushes don't matter really, it just the variety of texture that I am after.

Thanks. I thought it was Painter, because some of its brushes have similar textures.

Mmm, lovely story telling, you have a real gift for it.  You should consider doing a graphic novel in this style.

The 'witness' watching reminds me of Alexander Skarsgard. I don't know why, just the silhouette you know?

This pic was done trying to capture Alex's look, I'd be honoured if you could take a look . . .

I'm trying to get more skilled at using real life refs in my work, and was hoping to get some feedback. Sorry if it came off as spamming. :(

What techniques did you use for this piece btw? The style is awesome!

Hah, excuse me. I'm not Wildweasel339

You seem to be aware that you're stretching your luck quite thin fishing for comments here. Some advice would be to join groups here on dA. And then submit your art to those groups.
Would be especially good if you could join groups that are relevant to what you draw and then submit that sort of art into them. An example would be to join a Demon oriented group with your fellow Lu' there.

Also honestly just think he painted it. Techniques are similar to what you'd do traditionally, probably with a little bit of digital magic in there as well.

I'd keep in mind, that artists don't appreciate it when people fish for view on their art-pieces.

Groups is the way to go. As well as contests if you can find some, just enter. Doesn't matter if there are more experienced people participating as well. It's about getting some press.

Really wasn't trying to fish, but I apologize.

The comments have a new feature where you can attach a piece of your work, and didn't think it would come off rude. You like an artist, you share with them. learn from one another. Really sorry and hope I didn't offend. :(
